Our Story
The idea for “Cross continent Escapes” was born from a simple but powerful belief: that travel is a bridge — connecting people, cultures, and hearts across the world.
Jude Fernando grew up in Sri Lanka, surrounded by stunning landscapes and vibrant traditions, but also aware that many travellers never get to see the island beyond the typical postcards. At the same time, thousands of Eastern Europeans — including many in Moldova — longed for unique travel experiences that went deeper than the usual tourist trails.
Ecaterina Rotaru, having travelled extensively across Europe and beyond, saw firsthand how many from her community were eager for something new, something exotic yet accessible — a place full of adventure, culture, and natural beauty.
When Jude and Ecaterina met, their shared passion for travel and cultural exchange sparked a vision: to build a company that would offer genuine, meaningful journeys from Eastern Europe to Sri Lanka — tours that reveal the island’s inner beauty, its warm hospitality, and its hidden wonders.
Starting a tourism company wasn’t without challenges. Bridging two very different worlds meant understanding diverse expectations, languages, and customs. But their complementary backgrounds — Jude’s deep local knowledge and Ecaterina’s European perspective — became their greatest strength.
Partnering with Nature Voyage, a respected local team in Sri Lanka, they focused on crafting experiences that are authentic, personalized, and respectful to both travellers and the local communities.

"Since childhood, I have been passionate about traveling. I was always fascinated by documentaries about our planet — about countries on different continents, their people, their cultures, and their breathtaking landscapes. I would absorb every detail with curiosity and dreamed that one day, when I grew up, I would visit those faraway places that once seemed impossible to reach. As I grew older, I turned that dream into reality. Whether for work, family vacations, or spontaneous weekend getaways — every journey became part of my lifelong dream come true. How did I end up exploring Sri Lanka? The first time I heard about this little piece of paradise was in a TV program. It was enchanting — full of life, color, and unimaginable beauty. When I finally visited this small and stunning island, something special sparked in my heart: a desire to share my impressions with others, to show the world what a true paradise we have on this planet. The warmth and hospitality of the locals, the incredible food, and the unspoiled natural beauty completely captured my heart. That’s when I decided — I must share with others the magic of this place that I have come to love so deeply."
